Prof. Dr. Bishnu Sapkota

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the Central Department of History (CDH) at Tribhuvan University, an institution that has been shaping the study and understanding of history in Nepal since 1959. Over the decades, our department has grown into a center of excellence, producing scholars, educators, and researchers who have made significant contributions to Nepali historiography and the broader academic community.

At Cdhis, we are committed to providing high-quality education that combines rigorous research, critical thinking, and practical experience. Our faculty members, with their diverse expertise, guide students in exploring the rich history of Nepal as well as global historical contexts. Through innovative teaching, fieldwork, and scholarly publications, we strive to cultivate historians who are intellectually curious, socially responsible, and capable of contributing meaningfully to society.

Our department also houses a well-equipped library and manuscript archive, which serve as invaluable resources for students, researchers, and historians. We encourage our students to engage actively in research, scholarly discussions, and academic collaborations, both within Nepal and internationally.

As the Head of this department, I am proud of the accomplishments of our faculty and students.
